AJI achieves this by litigating matters of public importance affecting a broad range of people, free of charge. Americans are increasingly unable to pay the costs of litigation. When Americans have no forum to vindicate their civil rights, everyone loses. Executive branch officials and agencies need to be checked when they circumvent our elected officials and make up laws they think are best. AJI keeps the government in check. Otherwise, our constitutional republic becomes a monarchy.
Civil Rights
The Bill of Rights and laws protect individual Americans from a myriad of government conduct. Without these protections, the U.S. would not be the land of the free.. AJI is here to vindicate violations of civil rights in matters that have implications for many Americans.
Equality & Opportunity
The federal government and many states are discriminating against certain groups of people in the name of equality for other groups of people. Discrimination is discrimination, period. AJI endeavors to fight for an America that treats everyone equally instead of prioritizing groups based on their differences.
Access To Justice
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. When Americans cannot fight back because of financial circumstances, we all lose. AJI bridges the access to justice gap by commencing lawsuits for qualifying individuals who cannot afford the costs of litigation.
What's At Stake
The land of the free and home of the brave is collapsing inward. Our elected officials have failed us. Our voting power is diminished. Our collective voice is drowned out by factions of people with the power and resources to push the government in a direction that furthers their own interests. Meanwhile, we the people are becoming obsolete. Our liberty to pursue the American Dream is being taken from us. Eventually it will not be attainable.
Governments at all levels are ignoring the Constitutions and laws intended to stop them from acting outside the will of the people. They do so with near impunity. Political parties fight each other to gain power for themselves. Not us. The very fabric of American life is at stake.
The Government is giving money to lawbreaking immigrants while Americans struggle. Schools are forcing children to accept anti-family ideology. And ostracizing those who don't get in line. Public servants are losing important protections. Speech that doesn't fit the narrative is being censored. Religious freedoms are being trampled on. Workers are not being evaluated based on merit but the color of their skin. Women are losing rights to men who believe they're women. The very fabric of American life is at stake.
